Ellen E. Nelson received the above plaque upon her induction into the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Washington D.C.
Lieutenant Nelson entered active duty on October 14, 1942 as a nurse. She landed on the beaches of Normandy within 8 to 12 hours of the initial invasion and then proceeded to follow General Patton through Europe. She participated in the Battle of the Bulge and other campaigns waged by General Patton. Lt. Nelson was discharged February 22, 1946. While serving in the European Theatre Lt. Nelson won the following medals: European-African - Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars American Campaign Medal World War II Victory Medal We appreciate the donation by her grandson Kyle Nelson in memory of his Grandmother and her military service. |

Congressman Issa's Foundation Pancake BreakfastCongressman Issa's Foundation held their sixth Christmas Pancake Breakfast at Camp Pendleton. Congressman and Mrs. Issa, matched the donated money received at the event, from the Issa Family Foundation and half of the money will be given to Homefront San Diego to continue our hand up to the young Military Families in San Diego. We are very grateful to the Issa Family Foundation for their continued Support of our Military and Homefront San Diego. |

The San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Foundation - Holes for HerosThe San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Foundation held their Fifth Annual Holes for Heroes October 14, at the Lomas Santa Fe County Club. Holes for Heroes is a very special event benefiting our wounded heroes, front line troops, children and families of our deployed military KIAs and vets. Homefront San Diego was present a check for $10,000.00 by Dave Ferguson, shown in the picture above and Jonathan Stone were co-chairs of this great event! |

NAPA Auto Care Centers Help HFSD FamilyTen NAPA Auto Care Centers have formed an organization called San Diego NAPA Business Development Group with the purpose of reaching out to the community. October 11, 2011 on Channel 6 they gave a young military family a 2000 Explorer they purchased and put about $7,000.00 into the car to make it a safe car for the family. Homefront San Diego Helps in Many WaysBlair's dad is a Marine. He asked for help getting a tricycle for his daughter, Blair, as she is a little person who was not able to peddle other trikes. Homefront purchased the trike and Blair is happily zooming around the neighborhood. |
